It is quite understandable that with the growing awareness of the Covid-19 virus threat, a lockdown has been ordered throughout the country. And with the passage of time, it seems to be getting more strict. However, in order not to trouble the masses unnecessarily, exemption was given initially to hospitals, medical stores, grocery shops and some other sellers of perishable goods to keep their premises open. And now, going a step further, the Sindh government has ordered all shops, excluding medical stores and hospitals, to operate only from 8 am to 5 pm.
May I request the government to relax conditions also for outlets which provide facilities for mobile phone networks. Some of them also provide convenient money transfer facilities. With a clampdown on movement of people, mobile phones provide a safe and convenient means of keeping in touch with relatives and friends. As such, arrangements must be made to let this essential service continue uninterrupted.
