MARDAN: The district administration on Thursday declared Tablighi Markaz Jandai and Masjid Umar Farooq Jehangirabad as quarantine centers for the Tablighi Jamaat members.

The district administration also continued the crackdown against the profiteering and arrested several shopkeepers and also sealed several shops. The administration officials also dispersed gatherings of people who were sitting at shops or wandering in the markets.

Meanwhile, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Zahir Shah Toru on Thursday asked the government to appeal to the Prime Minister Imran Khan to hand over Mardan district to Pakistan Army because the hospitals lack facilities and resources in the district. Zahir Shah Toru said in a video message on social media that 40 new cases have been recorded in one day in Mardan. He added that the spread of the coronavirus in Mardan might go out of control in the future. He added that the profiteers have become active in the district to take advantage of the current situation. It may be mentioned here that most of the checkposts are being manned by police and army soldiers jointly amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
