NED Sports Complex set to get red tartan track
KARACHI: A new red tartan track is set to be laid at the NED Sports Complex, ‘The News’ has learnt. The track will be laid as part of NED University’s sporting projects, aimed at providing students with sports facilities and promoting healthy activities.
Currently, there is only one tartan track in the city which was laid back in 1996 at the National Sports Training and Coaching Center (NSTCC) and there is an urgent need for its replacement. But the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) have yet to replace the old tartan track due to one reason or the other.
Sources told this correspondent that the red tartan track had already reached Karachi and was shifted to NED Sports Complex where its installation was to take place. But due to the coronavirus outbreak, the installation work has now been delayed until the situation normalizes. The installation would take around two to three weeks once work on the project resumes, a source said.
