Two stranded blind dolphins rescued from Kirthar Canal

SUKKUR: The Sindh Wildlife Department has rescued two blind Indus dolphins found stranded in the Kirthar Canal, Sukkur, on Friday and they were released into the Indus after examination. Blind dolphins are rare mammals found in the muddy waters of the Indus where they navigate with the help of sophisticated cruising systems.

Conservative Officer SWD, Mir Akhtar Talpur said some passersby had informed the wildlife department about the two stranded blind dolphins. Talpur said during examination they found one of them to be pregnant and likely to deliver in late April. He said both the dolphins had received slight injuries and they were released into the Indus.
