LAHORE:A delegation led by Manchester Lord Mayor Abid Latif Chohan called on Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Vice-Chairperson Chaudhry Waseem Akhtar in his office here on Friday.
According to a handout, matters of mutual understanding, resolution of the problems of overseas Pakistanis and the means to promote investment in Pakistan were discussed in the meeting.
The vice-chairperson of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) while welcoming the delegation said that this visit had not only helped discuss the issues and challenges faced by Pakistani community living abroad but had also opened up new ways for encouraging the foreign investors to invest Pakistan.
He said the steps taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan were exemplary and commendable which was the reason he had won the hearts of Pakistani expatriates. Pakistani diaspora has shown their confidence in the dynamic leadership of Imran Khan and the increase in foreign investment is a proof of it. Pakistan will soon be economically stable. Pakistan like all other countries is also facing pandemic of coronavirus but federal as well as provincial governments are committed to fight this together. Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmed Buzdar are taking every step to control this virus, create awareness among the public and taking precautionary measures at the government’s level, said the OPC vice chairperson.
