The history of Pak-India relations is full of acrimony and bloodshed. In just 69 years of their existence, the two nations have fought four battles. Whatever the objective of these wars, we have seen that none of the countries has ever been able to wrestle control of the disputed territories from the other. Yet the two nations are found ever ready to commit themselves to war at the slightest of instigations.
Even when these two nations are not at war, a certain element of tension constantly hangs over their common border. People living near the Line of Control and the Working Boundary often experience heavy shelling which costs them their lives and properties. From whom should they seek mercy?
