Dist admin launches cleanliness campaign

MULTAN: The district administration has launched a grand cleanliness campaign at entry and exit points in the district.

The administration has assigned newly recruited 300 sanitary workers task of cleanliness, officials said. All 300 newly recruited sanitary workers are divided into groups of 100 sanitary workers in each group and allocated them different areas for cleanliness.

The Solid Waste Management Company is supervising and monitoring the whole cleanliness drive in the city, said SWMC Managing Director Nasir Shahzad Dogar. The grand cleanliness operation was continuing on Muzaffarabad, Shujabad and Qasim Bela Roads, he said.

He said that special cleanliness drive was continuing on Vehari Road, Suraj Miani and Khanewal Road. Heavy machinery and manpower was provided to sanitary workers to ensure cleanliness, he said.

The streets and roads in those areas were a part of the cleanliness drive, he told. He said that more than 50 cattle shed owners indifferent union councils were issued notices to ensure shifting of their sheds to out of city limits.

Twelve cattle shed owners had been fined Rs 30, 000, he informed. The citizens can lodge their complaints at SWMC complaint numbers as quick action would be taken against violators, he added.
