Ulema to promote ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan’ narrative

LAHORE : The All Sects Ulema Board (ASUB) leadership has decided to launch a campaign from seminaries and mosques to promote the narrative of Paigham-e-Pakistan.

The narrative of Paigham-e-Pakistan has been issued jointly by the government and Pakistan Army to counter terrorism and extremism in the country and to praise the valuable sacrifices of the armed forces for defeating the menace of terrorism, said ASUB leaders Maulana Asim Makhdoom and others while addressing a press conference on Saturday.

They leaders of ASUB, a platform of all sects and religions for promoting peace and harmony in the country, said their campaign would feature seminars and meetings to pay tributes to the martyrs of Pakistan army and those religious leaders who had played vital roles in promoting unity and harmony in the country. They said on the Friday congregations (Feb 14), tributes would be paid to Maulana Muhammad Dawood Ghazanvi and Maulana Muhammad Ismail Ghaznavi for their valuable services for promoting unity in the Ummah.

The ASUB leaders included Prof Muhammad Yahya, Syed Mehmood Ghaznavi, Hafiz Zubair Ahmad Zaheer, Allama Ziaullah Bukhari, Dr Abdul Ghafoor Rashed, Maulana Shakilur Rehman Nasir, Asghar Arif Chishti, Allama Shahid Gorkha, Dr Tariq Sharif Pirzada, Maulana Yunus Rehan, Syed Faisal Ghaznavi, Pir Ijaz Rizvi, Hafiz Samiullah, Hafiz Usama and Hafiz Ahmad Shakir etc. They expressed resolve to uphold unity in the ummah at every cost and would not hesitate from offering every sacrifice for this noble cause. They also appealed to the ulema and Mashaikh to play their role in eliminating sectarianism and extremism from the country. They said Maulana Dawood Ghazavi and Ismail Ghaznavi enjoyed a prominent and respected status among all schools of thought for their services towards forging unity in the ummah.

APP adds: Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), in its ongoing anti-encroachment drive, demolished various illegal structures on Saturday.

Squads removed encroachments from Sabzi Mandi near Nawaz Sharif Hospital, Nonarian, Khuda Bahksh Road, Loha Market, Alhabib Market, Mugalpura, Harbanspura, Zarrar Shaheed Road, Township Collage Road, Barkat Market, Gulberg, Manawa and Kharak Nullah, Multan Road. MCL squads also imposed Rs 37,000 fine on shopkeepers and shifted nine truckloads of confiscated items to the MCL junkyard, said an MCL spokesman. MCL teams also sealed three illegal shops in the Manawa area and cleared structures, including sheds, grills, billboards, hoardings, makeshift shops along various roads and confiscated the belongings of encroachers.

Condolences: Provincial Minister for Information Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, Punjab Chief Secretary Maj (retd) Azam Suleman and Irrigation Secretary Syed Ali Murtaza went to the residence of Haider Ali, personal staff officer (PSO) to the chief minister, and offered condolences over the death of his mother.

They prayed for peace to the departed soul and courage and strengthen to members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
