Property dealer recovered, five kidnappers arrested
PESHAWAR: A property dealer kidnapped for Rs50 million ransom from Hayatabad has been recovered and five kidnappers arrested, an official said on Tuesday.
“Police successfully worked out the kidnapping case of a property dealer Sajjadul Haq Bacha from Hayatabad. He was recovered during an operation on the outskirts of the provincial capital,” Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur told a press conference at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines.
The CCPO was flanked by Sajjadul Haq along with his two young daughters, other family members, SSP Operations Zahoor Afridi and SSP Investigation Jahanzeb Khan. Sajjad was kidnapped over a week ago from Hayatabad when he was returning home from his office.
He was intercepted by armed men travelling in a car and taken along. The CCPO said it was the second case of kidnapping for ransom that police had worked out in two days. Earlier, a student, Kashan, was recovered four hours after his kidnapping for ransom.
The city police chief said five kidnappers Naveed, Mohammad Hayat, Said Ali Shah, Janan and another accomplice of the accused were arrested during the operation. All the kidnappers belong to Peshawar, Khyber and Charsadda. The kidnapped person was kept in chains in a house while the ring members had demanded Rs 50 million ransom from the family,” said Ali Gandapur. Apart from weapons, police recovered 15 different cellular phones which were being used by the kidnappers. The CCPO appreciated the performance of the police party, especially SP Cantt Tasawwar Iqbal and Tehkal Station House Officer Shehryar for the safe recovery of Sajjad and arresting the culprits.
