‘Over 8,000 private educational institutions registered in KP’
MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority Director Tashfeen Haider has said that the entity has registered over 8,000 private educational institutions across the province to impart quality education to the students. “The government wants to improve quality education in the province and this is why registration of private educational institutions has raised to over 8,000 from 1800 in province last year,” the official told an annual private schools’ convention held here on Sunday.
The principals of private educational institutions and owners from Mansehra, Kohistan, Torghar, Abbottabad and Haripur districts attended the event. The director said that the authority wanted to work in collaboration with private educational institutions bodies across KP for the better results.
“We have finalised paperwork to declare an academic session of 240-day on private educational institutions’ demand,” Haider said.
In response to a demand raised by owners and principals, the director said that his authority was seriously considering including of private educational institutions in scholarships extended by provincial government to public sectors’ students. “We want to end a disparity between students of the public and private schools and this is why such a comprehensive strategy is being chalked out to make private sector’s students a part in scholarships schemes extended by government for publics sectors institutions,” the official added. The director further said that the authority would soon open its divisional offices across KP to facilitate private educational institutions.
District Education Officer Khan Mohammad Swati said that currently only 10 percent schools were without furniture in the district.
“Our district is still reeling because of 2005 devastating earthquake effects but government is committed to end all such hurdles in quality education at public sector schools,” said Swati.
