CDWP approves six projects worth Rs10.3 billion
ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Thursday approved six projects in energy, housing, communications, health and education sectors worth Rs10.3 billion, while two projects worth Rs30.86 billion are referred to ECNEC for deliberation.
Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, deputy chairman Planning Commission chaired CDWP meeting. Zafar Hasan, secretary planning, senior officials from federal and provincial governments were also attended the meeting.
A government statement said projects related to energy, physical planning and housing, science and technology, transport and communication and education were discussed in the meeting.
The CDWP approved 220kV Haripur substation worth Rs3.627 billion and evacuation of power from 330 megawatts Siddiq Sons Energy Coal Fired Power Plant at Thar worth Rs2.354 billion.
“The main objective of the project is construction of Haripur Grid Station at 220 kV level along with associated transmission line to meet the additional load demand and voltage profile improvement of Hattar special economic zone region which falls under CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor),” the statement said.
Two projects related to physical planning and housing were also approved by the CDWP, including construction of superintendent of police residence Sector H-11, Islamabad worth Rs151.971 million and construction of police station in various sectors in Islamabad worth Rs150.836 million.
Projects in transport and communication included construction of road from Sibi Talli (20 km) and Kohala Rakhni (80 km) worth Rs4.0 billion and a project envisages construction and widening of 116 km long existing road from Sibi Talli (25 km) and Kohlu- Rakhni (91 km) to a width of 24ft with 6ft shoulders on each side were also approved.
A project in education sector ‘construction of boundary walls in government school of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through Tameer-e- School programme’ worth Rs203.675 million was approved by the Central Development Working Party.
Two position papers ‘up-gradation of Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital – KIRAN’ and “up-gradation of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities at BINO Bahawalpur’ worth Rs 4 billion were also approved by CDWP.
The CDWP referred construction of Lodhran-Multan section (North bound 62 Kms) of N-5 construction of two flyovers at railways crossing on Lodhran bypass worth Rs12.945 billion and a project related to science and technology namely ‘National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (NECOP) phase-1’ worth Rs17.918 billion to ECNEC.
