Youth set on fire

LAHORE: A 19-year-old youth sustained severe burns after unidentified persons set him on fire in the Chung area on Wednesday.

The victim identified as Azam worked in a local factory. On the day of the incident, he was standing outside his house when unidentified persons set him on fire and escaped from the scene. He was admitted to a local hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

rescue training: As many as 366 candidates selected against vacant posts across Punjab for Punjab Emergency Service/Rescue 1122 will join Emergency Services Academy from February 1, 2020, for basic rescue training.

The training will be conducted in phase-wise as rescuers from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are already under training in the academy. The Rescue 1122 director general directed the officers concerned to make arrangements for the first phase in which total 366 candidates would join the training. Out of total 366 candidates, 16 were selected for the posts of instructors of different fields like nursing, physical drill, rescue driving and information technology for the Emergency Services Academy, whereas 250 emergency medical technicians and 100 rescue drivers (LTV) for all districts of Punjab will be trained for those districts where an extreme shortage of staff exists.

The DG said all the remaining selected candidates would be called to join Punjab Emergency Service for training in March 2020. In this regard, the lists of the selected candidates will be displayed soon at Rescue Official website (www.rescue.gov.pk).

hit to death: A 12-year-old boy was killed by a speeding van in the Sundar area on Wednesday.

The victim identified as Arsalan was a student of class four. He was on his way on a bike of his teacher when a rashly-driven van hit him. As a result, he suffered injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Locals caught the accused van driver, Zahid and handed him over to police.

held: Qila Gujjar Singh investigation police arrested two people on charges of killing a man some days back. The arrested persons identified as Mazhar Khan and Tabish had allegedly murdered a man, Ikhlaq Ahmad. The accused were jealous of him due to his successful business.

road accident: A bike rider was killed by a speeding car in the Sundar area on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Imran Shahzad. He was on his way to buy household items when a rashly driven car hit him near Behria Town Roundabout. As a result, he sustained fatal injuries. He was removed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was a father of three.

IG: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Shoaib Dastagir has said that Elite Force has been trained on modern lines and it is the specialised force of Punjab Police as its every constable has full capacity to successfully execute difficult operation of any kind. He said the force should be used during high profile and intelligence-based operations. It would help utilise the capabilities of the Elite Force to the maximum end, the IG added.
