Man dies, wife and passer-by injured in cylinder blast
A man died and two women critically wounded in what appeared to be a cylinder explosion at a house in the Mehmoodabad locality on Monday.
The explosion took place at a house located within the limits of Mehmoodabad police station. Responding to information, rescuers from different welfare associations and police reached the property, participated in the rescue operation and recovered the body and other trapped people from the house.
The victims were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police said the deceased person had been identified as 33-year-old Omair Qureshi, son of Ibrahim, while the injured women as Sadaf, 30, wife of Omair Qureshi, and Naseem Banu, 65, wife of Abid Hussain. Banu had been passing by the house when the cylinder exploded with a loud bang.
