BARA: The elders of various tribes on Friday expressed concern over the selection of people for the Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Bara tehsil of Khyber district.
Speaking at a press conference at the Bara Press Club, Dr Gulmand Afridi, Jamshed Jan, Salman Khan and others said that Deputy Commissioner Mahmood Aslam Wazir and the assistant commissioner Bara had formed the Dispute Resolution Council without the consent of the tribespeople. They said the district administration had selected those elders who were members of peace bodies in the past. "We want the government to dissolve the DRC and ADR and constitute impartial councils by taking the elders into confidence," Dr Gulmand Afridi said. He said they would launch protest against the administration if the it did not dissolve the councils.
