Protests staged across KP against flour crisis, price-hike
PESHAWAR: The Jamaat-e-Islam (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Friday staged separate protests across the province against the unbearable rise in the prices of daily commodities and held the government responsible for making the life of the people miserable.
The main rallies were held in the provincial capital. The JI workers staged their demonstration outside the Peshawar Press Club, while the JUI-F activists organised a protest march from main GT Road to Hashtnagri.
The JI demonstration was led by the provincial president Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, vice-president Sabir Hussain Awan, district president Atiqur Rahman, JI Youth’s provincial president Siddiq Paracha and others.
The speakers on the occasion criticised the federal and provincial governments for their flawed policies which led to flour crisis. Mushtaq Ahmad said that Pakistan being an agricultural country was like a warehouse of wheat but still it was facing wheat crisis, which was a matter of shame for the incapable and incompetent rulers. He said that the rulers exported 500,000 tonnes of wheat earlier at cheaper rates and now they were importing 300,000 tonnes at much higher prices. He said that the prices of sugar, gas, electricity and petroleum products have also gone up beyond the reach of the people.
Mushtaq Ahmad said that the rulers through their incompetent have inflicted serious damage on the country. The economy of the country was badly ruined, he said, adding that the country was isolated among the comity of nations.
The JUI-F rally started from Nosho Baba mosque and the protestors after passing through main GT Road reached Hashtnagri where they staged a protest.
The rally was led by Maulana Amanullah Haqqani, Abdul Jalil Jan and others. The speakers on the occasion criticised the government and said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government deceived the masses through false claims.
The rulers also made the institution controversial through their flawed policies. The recent report by the Transparency International also exposed the false claims of the rulers about corruption.
