Imran Khan’s allegation that the Election Commission of Pakistan’s members are responsible for the alleged rigging in the 2013 elections and his demand for their resignations are baseless.
He should know that the staff conducting elections is made up of people largely drawn from the education department, mostly teachers. They conduct elections and all the related election process. The Election Commission does not have sufficient staff to man the whole election process. It acts as a statutory body and as a conduit for disbursing payment to the election staff.
