PIC tragedy: Committee holds two police officers guilty
LAHORE: The Investigation Committee on PIC Tragedy has held two senior police officers guilty in its inquiry report.
The investigation committee was formed on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to probe the incident at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC). Additional IG Azhar Hameed Khokar submitted a report to Buzdar, which maintains that the incident occurred due to the negligence of SSP Operations Lahore Muhammad Naveed and SP Civil Lines Dost Muhammad Khosa.
The report states that SP Khosa did not reach the PIC on time whereas SSP Naveed failed to take any step even after reaching the spot. It has further been stated that the police officials, who were deployed near the hospital, were not properly guided. The committee concluded that hesitation in taking any action worsened the matter.
The provincial cabinet will deliberate on the findings by the investigation committee in the light of its report in the next meeting and decide to take action against the officers.
