NAB to revamp govt ad release system

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has constituted a committee to formulate recommendations to revamp advertisement release system and devise a consolidated and comprehensive system to minimise corruption in the release of payments.
The NAB will involve information secretary, Pakistan Broadcasting Association and director ABC in the subsequent meeting in order to devise a consolidated and comprehensive system, which would be put in place by the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage and its attached departments including PID and ABC.
The first meeting of the Prevention Committee on PID constituted under section 33C of NAO 1999 by the chairman NAB was held here at NAB HQ which was chaired by Acting Chairman NAB Rear Admiral (R) Saeed Ahmed Sargana and was attended by DG (A&P), Vice President of the Committee along with representatives from PID, PTV, Pemra, Ministry of Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage, APNS and representatives of private media groups.
A threadbare discussion was held to propose measures for curbing corruption in the public sector advertisement release system.
The role of director ABC, PID and other stakeholders was also discussed at length. Weaknesses in the system were identified and input/suggestions were shared by all members to revamp the existing PID advertisement release system into a more transparent one.
It is pertinent to mention here that NAB under section 33C is mandated to carry out the state functions for reformation and eliminate corruption and corrupt practices from government departments.
