Geo Films’ ‘Manto’ ready to hit cinemas on Sept 11

KARACHI: Geo Films’ ‘Manto’, which is based on the life of acclaimed novelist of the region, Saadat Hasan Manto, is ready to hit cinemas on September 11.
Written by Shahid Nadeem, the movie features a star studded cast that includes Sarmad Khoosat, Mahira Khan, Nimra Bucha, Sania Saeed, Nadia Afghan, Savera Nadeem, Hina Bayat, Humayun Saeed, Faisal Qureshi and others.
‘Manto’ has been directed by Sarmad Khoosat, who is himself playing the film’s main character of Saadat Hasan Manto.
The film will unleash the writer’s journey of life after the Independence of Pakistan. Also, the plot of his biopic aims to eradicate the misunderstandings about Manto that the society upholds. What’s more, the coveted avatar of Manto in the movie is donned by Sarmad himself. Alongside him is the crème of the nation’s entertainment industry; featuring Sania Saeed as Manto’s wife and Saba Qamar as Noor Jehan.
The veteran voices of Misha Shafi, Zeb Bangash, Javed Bashir, and Ali Sethi have attended to the movie’s playlist.
Saadat Hassan Manto was a Pakistani short story writer of the Urdu language. He is best known for his short stories. Manto was also a film and radio scriptwriter and a journalist. He published 22 collections of short stories, one novel, five collections of radio plays, three collections of essays and two collections of personal sketches.
