DUBAI: Snowfall on the highest mountain of the United Arab Emirates Jabel Jais has lowered the mercury to below zero centigrade, due to which Ras Al Khaimah’s temperature on Wednesday morning dropped to 2 centigrade.

Ras Al Khaimah’s mountain Jabel Jais is almost 175 kms away from Dubai and around 1,934m high where the temperature reached -1C in the early hours of Wednesday. Videos emerged on social media of the covering of the white stuff on Jebel Jais, in Ras Al Khaimah, after snow fell on the mountain on Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday.

Snow has previously been reported in February 2017 on the UAE's highest peak, Jebel Jais. Moderate to heavy rainfall was reported in various parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Current temperature across the UAE is between 12 to 17 centigrade.
