Cracks emerge?
This letter refers to the editorial ‘Trouble brewing?’ (January 14, 2020). The MQM has a long record of dropping in and out of coalitions that has resulted in mistrust between the MQM-P and the PPP. This time it is the PTI on the receiving end. It is no longer a secret that the MQM-P has been dissatisfied from day one as the PTI government has failed to fulfill their demands. The situation has been further aggravated by the PPP’s offer to the MQM-P to join them in a rival coalition.
Furthermore, the PTI is again erring by not taking the chief minister of Sindh on board and ruling directly through the governor and federal ministers from Karachi, this is against the spirit of the 18th amendment. Ignoring the CM is bound to create rifts and further instability going forward.
