Countrywide rain spell forecast

LAHORE:The country will witness a new spell of rain, which may cause heavy falls and flash flooding in Districts of Turbat, Kech, Panjgur, Kalat, Quetta and Awaran during the next 24 hours while the city witnessed a partly cloudy weather here Sunday.

Met officials said that heavy snowfall is also expected in Districts of Quetta, Harnai, Ziarat, Qilla Abdullah and Pishin during the period. A strong westerly wave is affecting most parts of the country and likely to persist in upper parts till Tuesday morning, they added.

Met officials predicted that risk of closure of roads due to heavy snowfall and rains in the Districts of Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Murree, Galyat, Neelum, Bagh, Haveli, Rawalakot, Astore, Hunza and Skardu on Monday. Heavy rains may trigger landslides and Avalanches in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Malakand and Hazara Districts.

They said that on Monday widespread rain is expected in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, upper and central Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir while at scattered places in South Punjab and northwestern Balochistan. Snowfall is also expected in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Heavy rain is also expected in districts of Kashmir and upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

On Sunday, rainfall was recorded at several cities, including Turbat, Pasni, Kalat, Panjgur, Dalbandin, Ormara, Jiwani, Quetta, Khuzdar, Nokkundi, Zhob, Lasbela, Malam Jabba, Kalam, Parachinar, Dir, Saidu Sharif, Balakot, Patan, Mirkhani, Drosh, DI Khan, Chitral, Bagrot, Gupis, Skardu, Gilgit, Bunji, Murree, Gujrat, Bhakkar, Muzaffarabad and Garhi Dupatta. Snowfall was recorded at Ziarat, Quetta, Malam Jabba, Kalam, Bagrot, Kalat, Zhob, Skardu, Parachinar, Chitral and Astore.
