Man’s tortured body found in garbage dump

The body of a man was found in Orangi Town on Sunday. Police said the body was found in a garbage dump in Sector 11 ½ of Orangi Town, within the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market police station.

The body was moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy and later placed in morgue. According to a medical examination, the man was shot dead three days ago and also subjected to intense torture.

The police said they were making efforts to ascertain the identity of the man and also to arrest the killers. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.

Body identified

Police have identified a man, whose body was found stuffed in gunny sack a day ago, as Imran Khatri. Police said on Sunday that the deceased hailed from Hyderabad and that the man was a cloth trader.

The gunny sack was found on Saturday in Naik Muhammad Goth within the limits of Surjani Town police station. The body had been moved an Edhi morgue.

Quoting an initial investigation, the police said the man was shot dead by unidentified persons in Surjani Town on Friday. Khatri’s body was found a day later after locals spotted it stuffed in the gunny sack, the police said.

Three bullet shells were seized from the crime scene which would be sent for a forensic test on Monday (today), the police added. The police said the motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained and a case had been registered against unidentified persons.
