LAHORE:A man was shot dead by unidentified persons in his house in the Nawankot area on Friday. The victim identified as Munna Masih was asleep in his house when unidentified persons entered his house unnoticed and shot him to death. The body was removed to morgue
IG: The inspector general of police, Punjab, chaired a meeting with regard to development projects of police, upgrade of resources and the department’s issues.
The IG directed the officers concerned to complete all the under-process projects in all districts within the given timeframe. He said the follow-up of the summaries of new projects and for acquisition of resources sent to Punjab government should be done.
He said the work on the Punjab Safe Cities Authority projects which were under-construction in big cities of the province like Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sargodha should be speeded up.
He directed that the complaints received by IGP complaint cell 8787 should be resolved within possible minimum time and follow-up should be ensured for all the complaints received through calls, text messages, emails and open courts.
transferred: The DIG Operations Lahore issued transfer and posting orders of 31 SHOs on Friday. A notification in this regard has been issued with directions to the newly-posted SHOs to take charge immediately.
Security: The security of mosques, imambargahs and other religious remained tight on Jumma tul Mubarik in the metropolis.
All the divisional SPs, DSPs and SHOs were directed to ensure foolproof security arrangements. Police officers and officials along with members of the Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit remained alert at all the sensitive mosques and imambargahs.
US envoy: A three-member delegation led by the US Consul General Catherine Rodriguez called on the inspector general of police, Punjab, here on Friday.
The delegation included senior security Attaché Mathew Kupec and security officer Afzaal. The American consul general acknowledged Punjab Police’s steps taken for the public and security. She also expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements for the US Consulate in Lahore and thanked the IG.
