KARACHI: The inaugural edition of Fauji Fertilizer Open National Ranking Tennis Championships started on Sunday with 32 matches being played on the opening day at Dilawar Abbas PTF Complex and Pakistan Sports Board Complex in Islamabad.
Ladies singles and boys under-18 and under-14 events are being played on the clay courts, while men’s singles and men’s doubles are being held on the hard courts of PSB and PTF.
Arham Atiq, Babar Ali, Asadullah, Saqib Umar, Hamza bin Asif, Asjad Etizaz, Talha bin Asif and Umair Qayyum qualified for the main draw of men’s singles event by winning two matches in the qualifying event.
In boys under-18 qualifying event, Ahmed Ibrahim, Zoraiz, Ilham Khan, Ali Khalid, Abdullah Adnan, Ibrahim Ahmed, Umar Hasan and Zayn Ali beat their opponents to place themselves in the main draw.
