Concern voiced over prolonged power cuts in Bara
BARA: The tribal elders at a public forum on Saturday expressed concern over the excessive electricity loadshedding in Bara subdivision of Khyber tribal district.
The forum was organised by the officials of the Tribal Electric Supply Company (Tesco) in Bara.
The Tesco official including Tesco chief Adnan Mir Riaz Awan, DG Tesco Sajjad, Hydro Union Secretary Rohul Amin and SDO Willayat Khan were present on the occasion.
The tribal people informed the officials about the excessive loadshedding and tripping of electricity in Bara subdivision.
They alleged that the domestic power was being provided to the commercial consumers and it was an injustice with the local people.
The tribal people added that the government was had committed to supplying eight hours of electricity to domestic consumers, but the officials did not supply only for three hours.
“We want to change the old and damaged electricity wires which were hit by bullets during militancy, which is causing tripping,” Haji Naseeb Afridi said.
Speaking on the occasion, Tesco chief Adnan Mir Riaz said that government was taking steps to overcome the issue of loadshedding and provide relief to the domestic power consumers in tribal districts.
He said the government provided electricity supply for six hours and then extended it to eight hours.
“First the government installed 150 feeders but now there are 240 feeders in tribal areas,” Adnan Mir said, adding now steel mills and factories were function in the tribal districts.
He said the government had allotted Rs7 billion for development work in electricity sectors.
“The government will start work on 92 feeders soon in tribal districts,” the Tesco chief said.
Adnan Mir said the people should extend cooperate to Tesco officials to supply power to the domestic and commercial consumers in the area. “We want to provide jobs to the affected people in steel mills and factories if the people pay the power bills timely,” he added.
He said that the commercial users should also cooperate with the Tesco officials. Tesco chief added that the low voltage problem would be solved soon in tribal districts.
