Dr Baig pays tributes to winners of Special Olympics Games 2015

KARACHI Dr. Baig Group Chairman and Dean of the Hon Consular Corps Sindh and former adviser to the PM on textile Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, while speaking to the winners of the Special Olympics World Games 2015 held in Los Angeles, USA, at a reception organised by Social Student Forum in Karachi, paid rich tributes to the athletes calling them heroes and pride of Pakistan, says a press release on Friday.
Pakistan was featured in nine sports namely Aquatics, Badminton, Basketball, Cycling, Football, Power Lifting, Table Tennis and Tennis with 55 athletes and secured 28 medals - 15 Gold, 12 Silver and one Bronze. Dr Baig acknowledged the dedication and the hard work of Ronaq Iqbal Lakhani, chairperson Pakistan Special Olympics, and assured her continued support of the Baig Group and thanked the Government of Pakistan for the approval of the conferment of civil award Sitara-i-Imtiaz to Ronaq Lakhani for her contribution to the sports and special children of Pakistan.
The event was attended by the Special Olympics’ athletes, coaches and Ronaq Lakhani, Ovais Asad Khan, EVP HR & CSR National Bank of Pakistan, Vice Consul Russian Consulate Alexey Frolov, Shakeel Dehelvi of Alamgir Welfare Trust, Dr Asma Ali Shah, Aleem Moosa and Ghulam Mohammad of National Bank of Pakistan. SSF was represented by their Chairman Nafees Khan, President Khalid Mumtaz, Shaiq Ayaz, Shabbir Danish and large number of guests from sports & civil society.
