NOWSHERA: At least 11 persons sustained burn injuries, eight of them precarious, in two separate blasts caused by gas leakage in Labour Colony in Amangarh area of the Nowshera district on Thursday.
Police said that the two houses were severely damaged while households were reduced to ashes in the gas leakage explosions. According to details, Farhan, a resident of Qaziabad, Nowshera Kalaan, his wife Bakht Noor, two-year-old daughter Dua Noor and six-month-old Abbas were asleep in a room of Quarter No 381 in Labour Colony. The police said that the gas accumulated in the room due to leakage, caused a huge blast and subsequently a fire broke out. As a result, all the four inmates sustained serious burn injuries. In another incident, fire also erupted in Quarter No 484 in which Muhammad Ali, a security guard in Shama Ghee Mills, his wife Furqat Bibi, 30-year old Junaid, 20-year old Naveed and 6-year old Luqman and their daughters Saveera, Palwasha and Laiba sustained burn injuries. The fire broke out in the room due to gas leakage. The injured were first shifted to Qazi Medical Complex in Nowshera but then referred to burn unit of the Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar because of their serious condition.
