‘No funds, no inaugurations’
ISLAMABAD: The government should not start projects without confirming funds for it, as in past, projects inaugurated for mere political promotion, were still lying in limbo and their cost was overrunning, a minister said on Thursday.
“Let us pledge not to inaugurate projects without the availability of funds and a defined timeline for completion,” said Faisal Vawda, Minister for Water Resources, while chairing a meeting to review progress of development projects. “Some water projects are pending since last thirty years burdening the national exchequer.”
Vawda said keeping the current water situation in view, it would be prudent to give weightage to the opinion of the professionals, if we are truly committed to overcome the issue of looming water crisis in the country.
