The Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) on Thursday deplored the denial of interim bail to Allama Amin Shaheedi and urged for probe into what it claimed a concocted FIR filed against him.
Addressing a hurriedly-called news conference, the MWM leaders, including
Allama Asghar Askari, Allama Ejaz Hussain and Allama Ali Sherazi, charged that
certain unseen forces were out to sabotage the ongoing result-oriented drive to
purge Pakistan of terrorism and sectarian menace and crushing banned militant outfits.
They lauded the efforts aimed at establishment of lasting peace in all parts of Pakistan. However, they expressed concern over the lodging of what they called a fake FIR against MWM’s central leader and wished the Anti-Terrorist Court should have first ordered investigation into it.
The MWM leaders announced to approach the high court on this matter, saying Allama Shaheedi was a well-known religious scholar, whose thoughts and ideology were known to all and sundry.
They pointed out that their leaders had been appearing on all television channels and contributing to religious and sectarian harmony in Pakistan.
