Deputy Secretary Budget & Accounts, Health Department, Punjab, said that Health Department had forwarded the request for sanctioning of PG posts, which had been notified soon after approval from the Finance Department in this regard.
The Young Doctors Association (YDA), Punjab, claimed that YDA’s protest movement across Punjab had forced the government to issue audit copy of PG posts and allocated budget as per sanctioned posts in each hospital. “All unpaid PGs shall get paid soon,” said the YDA leaders and added that it was made possible due to unity and strength within doctors’ ranks. They said that YDA would hold its weekly protest on 27th August 2015 until the acceptance of our all rightful demands of reversal of Punjab government’s decision of privatisation of hospitals; pay raise of all doctors; affiliation of Shaikh Zayed Hospital with King Edward Medical University; Rs31,020 stipend for House Officers; promotions of teaching cadre doctors; release of pay of specialist doctors of DHQ/THQ hospitals and regularisation of contract doctors of SZH, Rahimyar Khan.
