PU Hockey Mela begins
LAHORE: National hockey team Chief Selector Olympian Manzoor Junior inaugurated 6-a-side Hockey Mela being held under the auspices of Punjab University Sports Sciences and Physical Education Department at PU hockey ground New Campus on Wednesday. Head coach and manager national hockey team Olympian Kh Junaid and a large number of male and female hockey players were also present on this occasion. According to detail, 15 matches were played on the first day. Overall, 24 hockey teams - 18 boys and 6 girls - are participating in the 2-day event. It is pertinent to mention that the Hockey Mela is being organized for the promotion of national game of Pakistan on the directives of Dr Zafar Iqbal Butt, head of Punjab University Sports Sciences and Physical Education Department. Punjab University Sports Sciences and Physical Education Department is also planning to launch a hockey academy on this occasion.
