962 smuggled cellphones seized

PESHAWAR: The Customs authorities seized 962 sets of smuggled cellphones from a car on Motorway, officials said on Sunday. An official said that the Customs Intelligence authorities had been tipped off about smuggling of 962 sets of cellular phone after which the car was intercepted and the smuggled devices were recovered from the vehicle. “While on way back to the head office in Peshawar, the smugglers attacked the Customs squad. An exchange of fire took place between the smugglers and Customs officials,” said the official. He added that the smugglers managed to snatch car from the Customs officials.
