PHAF, PHAKP sign MoU to establish housing society

PESHAWAR: The memorandum of understanding was signed between Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF) and Provincial Housing Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (PHAKP) at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat under which a comprehensive housing society would be established at an estimated cost of Rs 97 billion.

About 15,500 grey structure houses of various sizes will be constructed by PHA Foundation over an area of 8500 kanals of land located in Surizai on Kohat Road, Peshawar which will be completed in 3 years time after its launching.

While briefing Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on the initiative, Secretary Housing Department informed that the total cost of land is Rs1.03 billion which has already been procured whereas Rs32 billion will be provided by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for construction of boundary wall and Rs500 million will be provided for mobilization. Similarly, Rs14 billion will be required for civil works.

The housing society is located in South of Peshawar City and is located at a distance of 10 kms from N-55 Indus Highway on Main Canal Road Peshawar.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will construct approx 10 kms Dual Carriageway road along both sides of irrigation canal starting from Zangali Check post to Project site.

The project will consist of 31 mosques having an area of 1 kanal, 31 plots for schools having an area of 02 kanals, 01 college having an area of 10 kanal, 31 dispensaries having an area of 01 kanal each, one hospital having an area of 10 kanals, 31 neighborhood parks of 10 kanals each, one grand park having an area of 100 kanals and a community centre having an area of 16 kanals.
