LANDIKOTAL: The Customs officials foiled a bid to smuggle foreign currency to Afghanistan and arrested two persons, official sources said on Tuesday.
Customs spokesman at Torkham border Inspector Mehmoodul Hassan told The News that they stopped two trucks bearing registration numbers (KLB-1128) and (KBL-1796) the Torkham border crossing. He said the Afghanistan-bound trucks were loaded with cement bags and kenos. The official said upon search they recovered 3.5 million Saudi riyals concealed under the cement and kenos from the trucks and arrested the drivers identified as Kiramat and Hayat.
