The Cybercrime Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) unearthed a fake office of the agency in the Soldier Bazaar area. FIA officials also obtained a CCTV recording from the fake office which suggested that the office was being run as a torture cell.
A video circulated in the media showed people stripped and tortured. The FIA team that raided the place also faced resistance by unidentified persons. The raiding officials said some fake FIA personnel there called bodybuilders from a nearby bodybuilding club, who attacked the FIA team and in the meantime, the fake personnel managed to flee the scene under the cover of fire
FIA officials said two men involved in torturing citizens had been identified as Danish and Jibran who escaped under the cover of aerial firing and their names are likely to be put on the Exit Control List. A case has been registered against them at the Nabi Buksh police station under sections of the Anti-Terrorism Act and some sections of the Pakistan Penal Code pertaining to encounter, attempt to murder, extortion and other heinous crimes.
The additional IG Karachi also took notice of the incident and constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the fake room. Some citizens who had been tortured at the office were also approached by the FIA for evidence.
