A newborn baby was kidnapped from a government-run hospital in Malir on Monday. The baby girl was stolen two hours after her birth at around 11am at the Sindh Government Hospital within the limits of the Khokhrapar police station.
The family told police that an unidentified woman, aged about 40, took away the newborn from the hospital’s premises. Hamid Baig, the father of the abducted baby, informed the police about the incident, upon which the police registered an FIR under Section 363 (kidnapping).
The complainant is an employee of a cell phone company and lives in the Malir Kala Board area. He told the police that he had gone home to get lunch, and when his wife, Hina, informed him about the kidnapping of their baby.
The mother said she had asked the woman not to take her daughter away with her, but she insisted and took her away, saying she was taking the baby out in the sun.
Police said they had recorded statements of hospital staffers, who said the mother knew the woman who kidnapped the baby.
FBR office furniture damaged by fire
A fire broke out at an office of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in the city on Monday.Responding to the information received, firefighters reached the site of the incident and extinguished it.
According to the spokesman for the fire brigade, the incident occurred at an office of the FBR located in a multi-storey building near the Sindh Secretariat.
He said the fire broke out at a balcony on the second floor of the building, damaging the furniture there. He also said the firefighters put out the blaze with hectic efforts of an hour, adding that no loss of life was reported, while the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
Man found dead
A man was found dead at a park in the Yousuf Plaza area.His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later moved to a morgue because no identity papers were found on him. Police said the man was drug addict and had died apparently due to an overdose.
