Siraj sees PTI ouster if Opposition unites
By Our Correspondent
MANSEHRA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) head Sirajul Haq said on Sunday that in-house change and mid-term election were part of the Constitution and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government could be dislodged through either means democratically if the opposition parties joined hands to get rid of it.
“This is an established fact that the PTI government has politically stuck in a blind alley and the opposition can either adopt a no-confidence move or force it to hold the mid-term election to dislodge it,” he said while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of district body of his party here. He said the current economic policies which were being enforced by the PTI were borrowed from previous governments of former military dictator Gen Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan People’s Party.
“This is a failed and unpopular government ever installed in the country as previous governments borrowed $31 billion since the inception of this country but this government borrowed alone $10 billion during the last one-year putting economy on the brink of bankruptcy,” Sirajul Haq said.He said that the chief election commissioner should be appointed through mutual understanding between government and opposition parties as holding a free and fair election was the key to democracy. “This is unfortunate that our system revolves around personalities instead of institutions,” he said.
He said that his party would march on the federal capital on December 22 this year to highlight the Kashmir issue. “It seems from the government’s reaction that it has accepted the division of the Kashmiris between Indian and Pakistan,” he maintained.
