KARACHI: Six days have passed but the police have failed to trace the whereabouts and to recover the 20-year-old Dua Mangi from the custody of kidnappers. While keeping the similarities in view, investigators have now started reviewing the Bisma kidnapping case for any possible clue to the kidnappers and whereabouts of the Dua Mangi.

“Both these cases of kidnappings have many similarities,” the investigators working on the Dua Mangi kidnapping case said. Bisma was abducted while parking her car at her Khayaban-e-Sehr residence on May 11 by four armed men who later contacted the family through social media to demand ransom. She was the daughter of a businessman, and was returning home on a weekend after having tea at a roadside restaurant when she was kidnapped on gunpoint.

The investigators believed that in both cases of kidnappings that occurred within a span of six months in Defence Housing Authority (DHA), some four to five kidnappers were found involved. “Bisma was also kidnapped in the same manner while she was parking the car outside her bungalow,” the investigators explained.

According to a Karachi police spokesperson, policeare investigating the case from different aspects as more than 12 persons had been questioned. The police and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee are also probing the incident.

Though the police have recorded Haris Soomro’s initial statement at the hospital however, the police were looking for detailed statement of Haris after the permission of the doctors. The investigators have also obtained important information from the cell phones of Dua Mangi and Haris. Six days have passed but the police have failed to trace the whereabouts and recover the 20-year-old Dua Mangi from the custody of kidnappers. Dua Mangi was kidnapped by men in a car from a street in Defence Housing Authority on Saturday evening.Family members and relatives of Dua Mangi, lawyers, social and political activists have staged protests against the failure of police in recovering the Mangi.
