Three CBC employees hurt
Three employees of the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) were injured on Friday as an angry crowd pelted them with stones while they were participating in an anti-encroachment drive in P&T Colony.
The CBC has initiated anti-encroachment drives in Katchi Abadis and other areas to comply with an order of the Supreme Court. Police said the CBC employees were injured when some residents of the area gathered and attacked the anti-encroachment team with stones. The incident prompted the police force present at the scene to resort to aerial firing to disperse the protesters. Police also detained around half-a-dozen protesters for violating the law. Police officials said the three CBC employees sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment. More cops were called in to defuse the situation.
