Coaching matters

Newspost

December 6, 2019

Cricket is not the national game of Pakistan but it is the most viewed and liked sport across Pakistan. Therefore, it comes as great shock for many Pakistanis to see the mismanaged performance of Pakistan’s team in recent days with nine consecutive series loss. It seems the recent appointment of Misbahul Haq as team coach and selector, along with his counterpart Waqar Younus as the bowling coach and selector, has proved to be a nightmare for the Pakistan cricket team and its supporters.

It seems that both coaches, although being great players, are bad selectors. Therefore the PCB chairman is humbly requested to separate the role of selector and coach. Also the posts of national team coach should be selected with targets for consecutive good performance and to unify the team. The Pakistan Cricket team can afford good coaches; it should not be a training centre for coaches.
