Start with the truth

December 03, 2019

Pakistan is relatively a young country with 73 years of its independence. From developing nuclear arms to winning various international titles, we can talk about many achievements this young country has been able to achieve. However, there are certain problems that are ingrained in the main structure of this country which can be traced back to the beginning of the first constitutionally formed government. The roles keep changing but the problems remain the same; before the elections the opposition paints a picture of having all the solutions to the issues that are there during the time of the existing government but as soon as it is elected it has to follow the same route to first of all secure its own interests.

People are promised that corrupt politicians will be put behind the bars and there will be accountability across the board but when the struggle to get power comes the first priority is to gain a strong momentum which begins even before the elections by compromising on principles through supporting the so-called electables that have previously been declared as corrupt by the same party. Before the elections are held, we are promised to be provided with education for all, health services for everyone and creation of jobs. The same party after assuming the role of a government suddenly goes into a different zone where all these promises becomes hard to be delivered and there are false excuses for why it is the way it is. Politicians need to start speaking the truth. Tell the people before the elections how long it’s going to take to provide free education, to give justice, to give food and shelter and what is going to take to do that. Just start telling the truth.
