KARAK: The lawmakers here on Sunday decided to take to the streets against the oil and gas companies working in the district
for failing to resolve the basic problems of the people.
They said all options, including the suspension of oil and gas supply from the division, were discussed at the meeting of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl district Karak chapter held with its district president Maulana Farooq in the chair.
Both lawmakers of the party from Karak Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel and Malik Zafar Azam attended the meeting.
Briefing the media persons after the meeting, Mian Nisar Gul Kakakhel, Malik Zafar Azam and Maulana Farooq claimed that they have held consultations within the party regarding their scheduled protest movement to be launched against the oil and gas companies.
They recalled that earlier they had put their demands to the high-ups of the companies and also recorded a protest against them but they did not bother to take any step for the resolution of the problems being faced by the people.
The lawmakers added that they have called a grand meeting of the all opposition lawmakers of Kohat division on December 5 to finalize the strategy for the proposed protest.
They claimed that the companies were not ready to listen to the people so they would launch a protest movement against the companies which would continue till its logical end.
The lawmakers, while unveiling the strategy of their proposed protest, said the Indus Highway would be blocked near Toll Plaza Lachi and added that the oil transportation and gas supply would be suspended from the Kohat division.
