Rs200,000 withdrawn from Urdu Bazaar bank looted in Garden area

A citizen was looted by three robbers inside his residential building on Thursday. The man, named Abdullah, just reached his home in Garden area after withdrawing two hundred thousand rupees from a bank in Urdu Bazaar area, according to police.

Police suspected that the robbers followed Abdullah right after he withdrew cash from the bank. When he reached his home, they looted Abdullah in front of his daughter inside the residential building, police added.

CCTV footage showed that the robbers had covered their faces with masks and helmets and it just took them 40 seconds to commit the robbery and flee the scene, police said. However, police said, the registration number of the robbers’ motorcycle was visible in the CCTV footage.

While police claim that the culprits were expected to be arrested soon due to the visibility of their motorbike’s number, a first information report was yet to be registered till the filing on this report.

Rangers arrest 22

The paramilitary force on Friday arrested 22 suspects during raids in different parts of the city. According to a spokesman for the Rangers Sindh, Muhammad Asif was arrested in the Saddar area for being involved in a number of extortion cases.

During raids in Al-Falah, Korangi Industrial Area, Gulshan-e-Maymar, Sharifabad, Saeedabad, Zaman Town, Baldia Town, Garden, Jackson and Ferozeabad, 18 suspects were arrested for their involvement in robberies, possessing illegal weapons, drug peddling and street crime cases. They were identified as Syed Haider, Muhammad Raza Ashfaq, Muhammad Farhan, Muhammad Naeem, Muhammad Sohail, Hazrat Gul, Ateequllah, Umair, Waqas, Ashfaq, Mohsin Ali, Muhammad Faraz, Rana Sagheer Ahmed, Abdul Waheed, Hamid, Shahzad, Muhammad Haris and Shoaib Khan.

The Rangers troops also conducted raids in Jackson and Ferozeabad and arrested three suspects who were later identified as Zohaib Ali, Mukhtiar Ahmed and Adil Ahmed. They were said to be involved in operating drug dens in their respective areas.

The soldiers also claimed to have recovered arms and looted valuables and recovered narcotics from the suspects. They were later handed over to police for further legal action.
