Excise inspector among four held for corruption

GUJRANWALA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) teams Thursday arrested four government officials, including an excise inspector and a Municipal Corporation superintendent from Gujranwala and Gujrat.

According to Anti-Corruption Establishment Director Zohaib Mushtaq, Gujrat excise inspector Asad Agha was held receiving Rs 5,000 from Azmat Ullah.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment teams arrested Shahzad Khokhar, superintendent of regulation branch of Municipal Corporation Gujranwala for his involvement in allowing illegal parking stands in the city area.

Establishment team detained Amjad Ali, naib qasid of education department for getting job on bogus orders and receiving salary for the last eight years.

DENGUE: Commissioner Zulifqar Ahmed Ghumman Thursday directed all officers concerned to boost up measures to combat the spread of dengue larva in their respective districts. Addressing a video link conference, the commissioner asked the health department to coordinate with district administrations and launch anti-dengue awareness drives to educate citizens about preventive measures.

He asked hospitals to allocate separate wards for the dengue patients. The health officials told the meeting that they had started an anti-dengue awareness drive in the city areas and three teams in every union council have been set up to launch door-to-door checking of dengue larvae. Additional Commissioner Coordination Nauman Hafeez, Director Health Services Dr Nusrat Riaz, ADCG Anjum Riaz Sethi and other officers attended the meeting.

GIRL RAPED: A girl was raped in Ashraf Town in the area of Qilla Didar Singh police on Thursday.

The father of the girl told police his 15-year-old girl went on the roof of the house where accused Saddam, resident of the upper storey, raped her. The police have arrested the accused and registered a case against him.
