1,500 PLRA employees resign after termination of office-bearers
LAHORE:Around 1,500 employees of Punjab Land Revenue Authority (PLRA) have resigned after termination of two ARCUP office-bearers Mian Shahid Mahmood and Hassan Meer from their jobs.
The field staff of Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) across the province continued their strike on tenth day and demanded regularisation of their jobs. Negotiation was held between the leaders of the protesters and the government but nothing was achieved.
PLRA DG had negotiation with the protesters, but he issued letter of termination to Mian Shahid Mahmood, president of Arazi Record Center Union Punjab (ARCUP), and Hassan Meer, deputy information secretary of ARCUP, the protesters claimed and condemned the double standards of the high-ups.
Members of the parliamentarians including Mian Saqib Khursheed, Muhammad Afzal Gill, Maulana Ilyas Chinioti and Maulana Ameer Muaviya, etc. participated in the protest and showed solidarity with the porters.
The MPAs addressed on the occasion and said they would become voice of the porters in Punjab Assembly. The porters were chanting slogans and demanded from Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar to take action.
According to PLRA spokesperson, the authority tried its best to resolve the issue but deadlock persisted and said alternatives sources of services have been provided to common people at Arazi centres across the Punjab.
