‘Cultural festivals to be organised in merged districts’

PESHAWAR: Provincial Senior Minister for Culture, Tourism, Museums and Archaeology and Sports Atif Khan on Tuesday said that cultural festivals and other related activities would be organised in the merged tribal districts to highlight the rich culture of these areas.

This he said while chairing a meeting of officials of Directorate of Culture here.

The director culture briefed the senior minister about different initiatives and schemes being executed for promotion of culture of the people of the province.

Atif Khan directed the officials to accelerate the pace of work on all ongoing projects and introduce new schemes for the promotion of culture. He directed the Directorate of Culture to hold maximum cultural activities in the tribal districts to highlight the culture of these

areas.

“By highlighting the rich culture of the tribal districts, we can change the negative perception and counter the propaganda against the dwellers of these areas,” he added.

The senior minister said that the erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) was ignored in the past few decades but now it was the time to compensate them by providing them enhanced facilities and equal opportunities to the its people.

Atif Khan said a grand cultural festival would be organised in Peshawar in the near future where the culture of neighbouring countries would also be displayed and highlighted.
