The Sindh Rangers with collaboration of the Manghopir police gunned down five members of a banned outfit during a raid on Monday.
According to the spokesman for the paramilitary force, the Rangers personnel were on a routine patrol in Khairabad area of Manghopir area when a group of terrorists opened a volley of fire on them from their hideout.
The Rangers personnel after ascertaining the exact location of the hideout cordoned off the area with the help of Manghopir police.
Then a contingent of the paramilitary personnel entered the hideout. The terrorists opened fire at the law-enforcers again but five of them were killed in retaliatory shooting.
The spokesman said all the deceased were affiliated with a banned militant organisation.
However, one of the Rangers’ sepoy, Pir Bux, and a constable of Manghopir police, Ijaz, were also injured in the shootout.
Reward for info
Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar on Monday announced a reward of Rs1 million for information related to an attack on a roadside hotel which claimed two lives on Sunday.
A paramilitary force spokesman said the informant’s name would be kept secret whereas information regarding the attackers could be delivered to the Rangers helpline, 1101.
Thirty-eight-year-old Rehan, and Saeed, 60, were shot dead while another man, Imran, got injured when two unidentified assailants opened fire on the hotel situated in Nazimabad No III.
