KARACHI: Sri Lankan coach Prachara Pol Khamsaman is arriving on August 15 to coach 20 junior tennis players of the country at POF Wah Cant from August 16-27.
“He is arriving on Saturday and will leave on the 28th,” said Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) secretary Khalid Rehmani. “Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) under its Junior Development Programme has provided this coach free of charge to organise a coaching camp,” he said.
He added that POF Wah was sponsoring this event, while PTF provided ticket to the coach.
“In this camp, 20 high performers of the country will get coaching. This is part of our vision to have a lot of players for both junior and senior Davis Cup categories,” added Khalid.
The PTF secretary said that most of the players selected for this camp were top-ranked players of age category of 13 to 17. “Peshawar’s junior players top most of the national rankings, yet there are players from Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Balochistan, Punjab and other parts of the country,” said Khalid.
He said some of the top junior players like Nofil Kaleem, Sahibzada Mohammad Ali were out of country, so they might not join this camp and available players would be given chances to get this professional coaching by the Sri Lankan coach.
He added that the PTF had organised four national coaching camps for junior players and now two more would be organised in the coming months, in Karachi by Nomi Qamar and in Lahore by Rasheed Malik.
