LANDIKOTAL: The administration of Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency distributed Rs40 million among heirs of 16 Khassadar personnel who had been killed in a suicide attack at Torkham border in 2009.
Local elders, officials and relatives of the victims attended a ceremony.
Assistant Political Agent of Landikotal Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah handed over Rs2.5 million each to heirs of the deceased Khassadar personnel.
Speaking on the occasion, Tayyab Abdullah said that those who had embraced martyrdom saved lives of other citizens.
He said they would not allow anyone to take the law into their own hands and sabotage peace efforts in the tribal region.
“It is not the duty of the security agencies alone but local community should also make efforts to maintain peace,” said Tayyab Abdullah.
He also announced that he would pay for all educational expenses of the children who have lost their guardians in terrorist attacks.
Sixteen Khassadars were killed and 10 others injured in the suicide attack, which occurred on the 27th of Ramazan in 2009.
